Data collection agencies like BML and Nielsen BookScan can use these new codes to provide a breakdown of the different categories of children’s books sales through the retail trade, to enable you to measure how different parts of your list are doing relative to each other and the size of your market share.
You will need to apply the codes both to new children’s titles and to your backlist. You will need to code all your new titles and keep Nielsen BookData informed. You will need to go through your backlist too. Nielsen BookData are able to help you with this.
