BIC Task and Finish Working Groups (Projects)
NEW Ordering Best Practice Project, commenced April 2021
Project start date, duration & commitment
Launched in April 2021, the purpose of this project is to agree, document and promote best practice for the B2B ordering of printed books for all relevant organisations in the book industry.
The guidelines will address issues in the physical supply chain, including those highlighted by BIC’s Physical Supply Chain Map Project and the Technical Implementation Clinics. They will include best practice for retailers, publishers, distributors, wholesalers and data aggregators, as well as system and service providers. Adopting best practice is key to ensuring that all areas of the supply chain concerned with ordering are operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.
The project group is be made up of BIC member volunteers from across the industry and is led by Stephen Long, an independent consultant with 30 years of industry experience. The project is expected to last 6 months and will meet regularly online. This will be followed by a period of adoption and review.
