Prior to them being published on YouTube\, BIC members may request an advanced copy of any of the recordings from the above 6 sessions via info@bic.org.uk at any time. \nFebruary’s session sees our expert speakers guide us through the accessibility requirements for websites/platforms and accessible packaging. We’ll do this by covering a variety of topics concerned with the accessible experience of exploring and shopping online: from browsing\, to receiving digital books to chosen devices and being able to access them confidently in a preferred reading method; or receiving a hard copy (braille\, large print\, audio) through the post. We’ll also hear about the Accessible Product Packaging project. \nHost\n\nKarina Urquhart\, Executive Director\, BIC\n\nSpeakers\n\nSydney Allen\, Product Manager\, GlassBoxx\nWendy Reid\, Accessibility & Publishing Standards Lead\, Rakuten Kobo Inc\nRobin Spinks\, Head of Inclusive Design\, RNIB\n\nWho should attend?\nThe EU Accessibility Act will have a far-reaching impact on the book industry supply chain\, including the consideration and development/maintenance of websites/platforms. Everyone else is required to pay a nominal fee. Please ensure you select the correct ticket type. \nTo register\, scroll to the top of this webpage and click on the ‘Get Tickets’ button.\nNot sure if your organisation is a BIC member? View our members list here. \nFuture Accessibility BIC Brunch sessions\nIn addition to February’s session\, there are currently 2 further BIC Brunch sessions planned (with possibly more to come) that will explore specific topics with regards to the EU Accessibility Act and they include: \n\nDigital Audio – March 2025\nDRM\, Text-to-Speech\, and Accessibility – April 2025\n\nCan’t make it? DESCRIPTION:At this Green BIC Brunch session we will hear from key library sector stakeholders about their sustainability initiatives.\n\n\nGreen BIC Brunches 2024\n#greenbicbrunch \nThe January 2024 Green Brunch Session\nFocus on Libraries\nIntroduction\nThe Green BIC Brunch series has been incredibly well received since its launch in June 2020. We’ll also be sharing an update on all of BIC’s work in this space – with the latest updates on our current projects that form part of our ongoing Green Supply Chain Plan. \nWho should attend?\nThis Green BIC Brunch will be of interest to those that work for any type of library sector organisation with an interest in sustainability. \nYour Host\nKarina Urquhart\, Executive Director\, BIC \nThe Speakers\n\nKaren Carden – Resources and Systems Manager\, University of the Arts\, London\nSimon Crump – BIC’s Environmental Consultant\nYvonne Morris – Projects and Programmes Manager\, Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP)\nHarri Sahavirta – Chief Librarian\, Helsinki City Library and Chair of IFLA’s Environment\, Sustainability and Libraries committee (ENSULIB)\nRowan Williamson – Associate Director Library Services and Support\, University of the Arts London.\n\nMore speakers to be confirmed. \nCan’t attend on the day?\nIf you would like to attend this event but cannot for any reason\, you can watch our BIC Brunch\, Green BIC Brunch and/or BIC Breakfast sessions via the BIC YouTube channel. In June 2020\, to uphold the BIC Green Promise\, we launched our Green BIC Brunch series which aims specifically to explore key areas of the book supply chain that can and do impact on our planet’s environmental health. Each Green BIC Brunch is dedicated to one key area while the series as a whole is intended to join the book industry supply chain together in one place – exploring and inspiring change in response to environmental challenges. \nOur past Green BIC Brunch sessions can be watched online via the BIC YouTube channel.
