It is specifically aimed at those new to colour production\, those who have learnt ‘on the job’ and those who would like to develop a deeper understanding of the techniques and processes involved in the manufacture of colour books. \nCourse Outline \nThe topics covered will include: \n\nThe different print processes available and how to pick the right one for your book\nHow colour is printed\nHow an image gets to the page\, including conversion to CMYK\, screens and ink density\nHow to choose the right proof for your book\nHow to assess paper and chose the right one\nWhat impact paper can have on your book\nHow a litho press is made ready and how to press pass a book\nThe different types of binding\, their characteristics\, limitations and how to choose the right one for your book\nWhat finishes are available and how are they applied\nHow a print price is constructed and how to request a quote\nHow to produce co-editions\nThings that can go wrong at each stage\, how to recognise them and what you can do to prevent them\nThe social and environmental impact of producing your book\n\nRead the full course outline here. \nThe Trainers \nJames Gascoigne \nBusiness Development \, Pureprint \nJames has worked in print marketing services and print for over 20 years with a broad range of experience and has worked at a senior level for some of the largest printing groups in the UK.
